what is the new measure of temperature?

i know they just came up with a new way to measure temperature because they wanted to freeze seeds or something. i need it for a report but i cant find any information on it. if you could just give me the name that would be really helpful.
I heard about it on the news as well but cant remember the name. im also not sure that calling my weather station will help… considering the fact that i dont know how to do that ;D
